The public is invitedto meet Mr. Gene Smith, the new Curator for the
Museum and McPherson House, from 9 am to 1 pm
at the McPherson House on Memorial Day.
(The House will be closedtemporarily as the parade passes by
and during theceremony in the cemetery.)


 

 

 



Jim Smith from the Lorain County Historical Society was a special guest on Flag Day, Sunday June 14th.

General James B. McPherson (1828-1864) was born and raised in Clyde and graduated first in his class from West Point Academy. He was mortally wounded while leading his Union troops in the battle of Atlanta.


General McPherson's funeral and burial was held in the cemetery opposite the family home.

A monument was erected in his honor in 1881 and restored in 1985.
